Common Admission Test more commonly known as CAT is an entrance examination for admission to graduate and scholarship programs offered by different management institutions across India. Among these institutes, Indian Institute of Management (IIM s) are the most prestigious institutes that offer graduate programs and scholarships. CAT percentile is also considered by many other B-school for pre-selection of candidates for GD and PI. Normally, access to most B-school in India is performed in three different phases. The first would the entrance exam, then GD and PI. Nearly 2 Lakh students appear for CAT every year and less than ten thousand would get a call from IIM s.So most candidates appearing for the cat, I think it is impossible to to the top in 8000, you can probably get a call from IIM. But then one must understand that not all students who pay the application fee and apply for CAT are completely serious consideration.
Types of students who appear for CAT:
- Students with Casual Attitude: Many students take CAT just because someone else is also emerging, or because it is a fad and once they graduate of the IIM s receive packages of fat salaries. These people live in your own world and never realize the importance of the entrance exam.
- Students who lack confidence: A large number in the garbage 2 LAKH falls into this category. They do not believe in themselves and want to continue receiving admission to the IIM s. The first thing you should have is confidence and belief in yourself. If you believe in yourself how can you expect to believe IIMs in you and give you admission? Not even worry if you do not have confidence in itself.
- Forced candidates: In this category, the student is not interested, but is forced to give CAT. He was not even the goal of IIM s saying "No my cup of tea. "But then, if you see, most questions are based on CAT askedin the topics we studied in our school. You genius does not need to be inevery CAT field to finish.
- Serious, but not focused: This category is students who are serious about CAT, but they are really scared and worried about anything. Even if they wish, they can, they lose their time worrying for nothing.
- Serious and focused: These are the students who give stiff competition from every CAT aspirant. They know they can do and work hard to achieve. CAT So the real competition is the only student among this category.
Now you decide for yourself, how many students fall into each category, and in which category you fall and prepare accordingly.
CAT 2009
CAT 2009 is likely to be an online test similar to GMAT. This year we are planning a test online within 10 days. Press three slots will be there and the test will be held for ten days. So in the 30 separate tests were made across India in the space of ten days. Each test should be a different set of question paper. But then the difficulty level for each test would be more or less similar.
Advantages of the online test:
- There will be more than 200,000 candidates who will appear for CAT 2009. Online test will save you time to correct the documents and publicize the results.
- CAT is done only once in a year might be once the aspiring online will have the opportunity to appear in CAT for more than one time in a year.
- In a long-term marginal cost of adding a new candidate to take the test will be less.
Disadvantages of the test online:
- The test is conducted in the space of ten days and each day will present three different times, means that there will be 30 different roles test at least. Although the authorities can take good care of the entire document difficult issue 30 sets have a similar level there is still a slight possibility bias towards applicants.
- People who come from remote areas and have frequent access to the Internet for that journey to the center of the test would be an obstacle.
- Also candidates who are well versed with Internet and technology advance, will have a advantage over others.
- It will be difficult for students to return to the matter left unattempted.
- RC In the majority of students are used to underline and circle important words or phrases in the online test can not be possible.
- Also for rough work, in a paper pencil test offline, you can do in the role of the question itself, but in the online test will be difficult.
