International Business Masters

International Business Masters

What can you do with a Masters in International Business and a BA in Japanese?

I am focusing in a five-year business, but I have to choose a language to go with it. I feel that the Japanese would be great because of all economic relationships we have with Japan.

Personally, I suggest Japanese, but I'm biased. I am especially in Japanese with a minor in business. To learn enough Japanese to be useful in businesses that require at least three, maybe four years time talking naturally to others. The same with China. Although opportunities business in both countries are excellent. I love Japan, but can be difficult. If you think you can handle both, go for it. Otherwise, a European language does not require learning a new writing system.

Description

When American consultant and businessman Rich Gottbreht traveled to Jakarta to work on a U.S.-Indonesian construction and operations venture in the late 1990s, he expected to be part of an undertaking that would provide jobs to locals and stimulate the Indonesian economy. He was unprepared for the dilemmas he would face surrounding the basic definitions of right, wrong, and corruption, and the fundamental rights of all citizens to share in their country's wealth distribution. Corruption Arts in Third World International Business: Traps, Swizzles, and Swindles Used by the Master Players is based on the true story of a large American firm--WestCo, Inc.--that launched a joint business enterprise with the Indonesian government and two domestic companies. Corruption turned into an art form became the leading factor behind the eventual failure of WestCo. Gottbreht hopes that by sharing this experience, others are better prepared for the "traps, swizzles, and swindles" used by what he calls the "master players" in third world business. The book provides readers with: -A practical definition of corruption. -A complete picture of an international business based on real-life experiences. -An in-depth discussion on how U.S. companies are set up for fleecing. -A detailed look at the tactical mechanisms used for fleecing. -Specifics on the damages done to businesses, investors, banks, economies, leadership, and real democracy by corruption practices. -Quantifiable U.S. and worldwide implications of what Gottbreht witnessed, especially now that billions will be spent on tsunami aid and reconstruction. -A strong set of recommendations to help businesspeople succeed where others continue to fail. Corruption Arts in Third World International Business is required reading for any American businessperson, educator, or student interested in doing business in or with third world countries.
